Heather Small to headline Legends of Football 2025 Gala
17 June 2025
British soul sensation Heather Small has been announced as the headline performer for the Legends of Football 2025 gala. The annual charity event, which supports Nordoff and Robbins – the UK’s largest music therapy charity – is scheduled for Monday, October 6, at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London. This year, the prestigious evening will celebrate the remarkable careers of football icons Jill Scott and Gary Lineker.
Heather Small, renowned for her powerful vocals as the frontwoman of 90s dance act M People, achieved global success with hits like "Moving On Up" and "Search for the Hero," selling over 11 million records. Her solo career continued to soar, with her inspirational anthem "Proud" becoming a staple for significant national events, including London's 2012 Olympic bid. Small's dedication to charitable causes was recently recognized with an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours 2024.
Legends of Football has a proud history, having raised over £8.5 million for Nordoff and Robbins over the past 25 years. The charity utilizes music therapy to provide vital support to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses, disabilities, or social isolation, enabling them to connect and express themselves through the power of music.
Small expressed her excitement, stating, "Music and football are two of life’s great unifiers - they bring people together, lift spirits and create lasting memories. It’s a real privilege to lend my voice in support of the incredible, life-changing work that Nordoff and Robbins do every day."
Geoff Shreeves, Chairman of Legends of Football, added, "Heather Small’s iconic voice has been the soundtrack to some of the most memorable moments in British culture. We’re delighted she’ll be performing at this year’s event, honouring two legends of the game - Gary Lineker and Jill Scott."
