Leeds indie frontrunners English Teacher have announced a surprise new project, This Could Be A Remix Album, set for release this Friday, October 10th, via Island Records. The album is a rework of their critically acclaimed 2024 debut, This Could Be Texas, which earned the band the prestigious Mercury Prize earlier this year.

The LP features 13 tracks, showcasing remixes, edits, and covers from a high-profile, diverse line-up of contemporary artists and cult figures. The roster spans genres, including contributions from Fontaines D.C. DJs (FDC DJs), electronic titans Daniel Avery and SHERELLE, and indie darlings like Baxter Dury and Working Men’s Club. American experimental duo Water From Your Eyes and singer-songwriter Matt Maltese also contribute reworks.

The release of the remix album precedes the quartet's largest UK headline tour to date, scheduled for November, which already includes sold-out shows in London, Manchester, and their hometown of Leeds.

Speaking on the project, the band—comprising Lily Fontaine, Douglas Frost, Nicholas Eden, and Lewis Whiting—expressed their gratitude, saying they were “so grateful that some of our favourite contemporary artists and friends were up for doing this with us.”

Key remixes on the tracklist include Daniel Avery’s take on "The World's Biggest Paving Slab," Baxter Dury’s reworking of the title track "This Could Be Texas," and SHERELLE’s energetic "160 Steps To Enlightenment Mix" of "Mastermind Specialism."

This Could Be A Remix Album is positioned as a celebratory companion piece to the band’s lauded debut. It is available this Friday on all major platforms, setting the stage for their upcoming UK tour which kicks off next month. The tour will hit major cities including Dublin, Bristol, Sheffield, Glasgow, and a two-night sold-out run at London's Roundhouse.
