Chicago indie veterans Whitney have officially announced their fourth studio album, Small Talk, set for release on November 7th via AWAL. The duo, featuring Julien Ehrlich and Max Kakacek, marked the announcement by sharing the record’s striking new single, “Damage.”
“We were searching for the sentiment of ‘Damage’ for a while,” said Ehrlich. He explained that the band was initially trying to avoid writing another breakup song, but realised the track was undeniably calling for that theme. They focused on completing it in a way that felt "unique and undeniably ‘Whitney’."
Small Talk promises to be the band’s most affecting album yet. After a decade of collaboration, Ehrlich and Kakacek entered the studio last summer to record the 11-track album without a dedicated producer, resulting in a collection that balances their signature heartfelt melodic style with clear sonic evolution. The record includes new cuts like “Dandelions” and “The Thread,” alongside a collaboration with Madison Cunningham on “Evangeline.”
In support of the new album, Whitney is embarking on an extensive world tour that includes a significant UK and European headline run in February 2026.
The UK leg kicks off in Dublin before moving to Manchester (February 22nd), Glasgow (February 24th), Bristol (February 26th), and London (February 27th at Hackney Church). The tour also includes major stops across Europe and North America.
Since their acclaimed 2016 debut, Light Upon the Lake, Whitney has built a devoted following for their warm, soulful sound. This new album and accompanying tour are set to further cement their reputation as modern indie favourites. Tickets for the world tour are available now.
