A mystifying femme fatale, an otherworldly attraction, and a haunting warning: “careful to fall… don’t wanna love her”. With a beckoning call, Florida’s renowned rock band Roxx Revolt and the Velvets dare you into their enchanting world with the release of their newest single, “Birdie Like Woman”.

Well known for their glamorously bold songs about temptress characters, the song depicts the spellbinding effect of a witchy femme fatale: “casting her spell” and dominating every thought and desire until one “can’t escape” “wondering what life would be like with a Birdie Like Woman”. A seductress in the first degree, she pulls people in like a siren; but despite their beauty, even sirens can pose danger…

“I had the vision of the song based on a kind of femme fatale, witchy attraction,” said Roxx Barrios, lead singer and songwriter. Yet, with a stirring and whimsical guitar riff, guitarist Jake Shockley explains that the song has the aura of a “runaway circus” laced with “melancholy and nostalgia”.

The song blends the mystique of their Birdie Like Woman with the fanciful nature of desire using rich layers of musical fusion. Jazz trumpets give a playful Carnivale sound, a grand welcome into this Cirque Du Magique. “Casting a spell on me, making it hard to believe”, the Birdie Like Woman’s trance is brought to life with a hypnotic guitar riff. Complemented with baroque harpsichords, the listeners ride through as though the song were a Tilt-a-Whirl, spinning deeper into the spell. Following the flashy bridge, deep harmonies echo a haunting chant, as though the Birdie’s past lovers have come to haunt her latest prey: “Careful to fall for Birdie Like Woman”… With the distant melody of Roxx’s vocals trailing off, the song ends, leaving the last lyrics lingering in the mind: “Is this real?”

“Birdie Like Woman” has been a fan-favorite staple of their live performances, and follows up the release of the band’s successful sophomore EP, “Uno”. Roxx Revolt and the Velvets have galvanized audiences since their formation in 2018, from their home state of Florida across the East Coast. From the renowned Gasparilla Music Festival to opening for Puddle of Mudd, they have solidified themselves as a mainstay in the modern music scene.
