The BET Hip Hop Awards, being held on Saturday night in Atlanta (for later airing) had to go into lockdown mode after reports of shots fired outside the venue.

Reports started coming in on Twitter that that Young Jeezy and Rick Ross had gotten into a fight in the backstage area. The confrontation moved to the parking lot with others from the singer's entourages getting involved and it was there that the reported gunfire took place.

Police were brought in and mace was used to disperse the crowd. This is where reports seem to diverge. Twitter reports say that the police arrested the gunman; however, TMZ received word from the Atlanta police that those involved fled the scene with no arrests made. They also stated that the reports of gunfire were untrue.

Here's a firsthand report that was posted to YouTube from DJ Drama at Atlanta's Hot 107.9.
