I didn’t want to like this song. The promo piece says lead singer Jenny Bailey wrote it for Michael the bass player when he was going through a tough time. What a load of sentimental drivel I thought as I put the cd in. As the track started I began thinking of something witty and sniping to say; “perhaps you should have just wrote this down in a little letter to Michael and saved us from being a part of your over emotional nonsense” it would have gone. But as I listened, I have to admit I started to like it. It’s not mind-blowing and the lyrics aren’t fantastic but the melody is simple and sweet and Jenny has such a gorgeous voice I couldn’t bring myself to be unkind. Don’t Cry Michael has an innocence about it and you can tell it’s heartfelt, Michael you should be very grateful!

Hey Now is a better track. The band has been compared to The Cranberries and The Sundays and those comparisons are justified on this track. It’s more upbeat than Don’t Cry Michael, much more rousing and catchy but still sincere.

Last Statement gives Bailey a chance to really show off her vocals. The intro though sounds suspiciously like it has been lifted from a well-known song by a well-known three-piece band, mentioning no names (check it out on www.myspace.com/silverfallmusic - answers on a postcard!)

There is gap in the market for a band like Silverfall and with a singer like Bailey they should get noticed.
