Kamp David’s last album – ‘Red Hotel’ – got a 4 star review from me and I’ve been keeping an ear out for the follow-up. ‘Westway To Vegas’ is the follow-up and while it isn’t immediately as satisfying it definitely grew on me over a number of listenings.

The recipe is pretty well the same as before: able glam-rock with a decidedly camp twist featuring Murray and Kirsty on lead vocals, both Aussies, and an international band who have their chops in all areas between Sweet and Scissor Sisters.

Subject matters are primarily bitchy but there is a fine sense of pizzazz and humour running through the album.
'Diane Andrews', 'Legs Up Linda', 'I Should Co Co' are my favourites here while 'D,A.G' is downright nasty. The title track sounds highly autobiographical and definitely has the ring of truth.

The production took them to Steve Honest’s Hackney Rd Studios to take advantage of the vintage analogue recording gear and it shows in a decidedly hot sound far removed from the uber-clean digital sound.

These guys have a reputation as a dynamite live outfit – every track here sounds as though it would be a belter on stage.
