Jackass star Bam Margera brings his new punk rap band F**ckface Unstoppable to Liverpool and I caught a few moments aside with him to discuss music, Jackass and kayaking off waterfalls.

Walking into the room Bam is drinking beer and covered in what he is gloating as cocaine but really he admits its just talcum powder saying “he likes to look dirty”. Brandon Novak frequently walks around the backstage area in nothing but a woman’s thong with scantily clad women too. This is rock and roll!

1.First things first, what’s it like being here in Liverpool? Ever been here before?
I actually have yeah; I stayed here with these skaters that owned a skate shop when I was 15 years old. It still looks pretty much the same, not much has changed. *drunken slur* What do you think will happen if my drummer goes shouting tonight that he loves Manchester United football team? Do you think they’ll have him off?
MN: I wouldn’t shout about that you love Man U here, might not go to well. (Bam shouted it out during the gig and the equally drunk crowd just cheered)

2.You made a name for yourself during Jackass, so what is it like touring with a band? Is it much different?
I love it because in that tour bus they have these tiny bunks and their dark as hell so all there is to do is sleep and I have a rough time sleeping at home but I sleep like a champion in those things. So I feel like I’m meant to be on a tour bus.

3.Why the name F*ckface Unstoppable?
I actually forget how it came about, I think I said it one time and everyone laughed.
MN: Its something you remember!
Exactly! If your name is F*ckface Unstoppable that means you can get away with a lot. Steve O tried to put out a rap album and it sucked stuff, but the right way to go about which is what he did. He called his album “The Dumbest Asshole In Hip Hop”. So if he sucks at rapping that’s why, of course he knows that already!

4.Who were your musical heroes growing up?
My main heroes were skaters but if you want to talk about musicians it’s gonna have to be Iggy Pop, Ville Vallo and at the moment I really like the guy Yellawolf he’s a rapper.

5.Music is usually passed through the family? What did your parents listen to? Did they influence you?
Not at all no. My dad only listens to Elvis and Elvis only nothing else just Elvis. My mum listens to Bonnie Raitt and country rubbish. *Sings drunkenly* black velvet in the sky (Black Velvet by Alannah Myles)

6.Has the band got any plans for an album?
Yeah, we just recorded everything but we’ve just been on tour so much we haven’t had time to mix it all.
MN: Has it got a name?
It might be called Till The Wheels Fall Of or Novak. I was thinking of calling it Novak because half the songs are about Novak (referring to band member and pro-skater Brandon Novak). He’s basically a walking TV set so he gives you so much material to write about.

7.Out of all the stunts you’ve done with Jackass, Viva La Bam and other things what your favourite one?
One was really recent just because I was terrified to do it, officially terrified. They asked me to go over a waterfall in a kayak; I’m thinking 50ft is a pretty big waterfall. But when I get there it says Malako Falls 101ft, now I’m looking at it and it’s massive! But he flew 10 people from South Africa to come film it, if I pussy out I’m gonna be the pussy that just wasted $30,000 so I had to do it. I was nervous for two days and then I did it.
MN: Was it worth it?
Yeah it was worth it, it basically felt like a shovel in me in the face it took the wind out of me but I knew I was fine, I had a life vest on. I would do that again if you offered me like 200 grand.

8.Out of the tattoos you’ve got, which one is your favourite one?
I like all of them. If I’m going to show someone a tattoo I don’t want to show them the nice ones I’m going to show them the bad ones. There’s a dick here (points to palm of hand)which reads unbelievable in Icelandic which you can barely read, so that’s kinda more meaningful then a portrait of someone I like.

9.Do you still keep in contact with all the Jackass people?
Yeah, Knoxville and Steve-O the most Wee Man a little bit. Only when I’m in LA is when we actually hang out. Wee Man actually just got a girlfriend in Philadelphia where I live so he comes to Phili all the time.

10. Is Jackass or Viva La Bam ever coming back?
Viva La Bam probably not. Jackass will be movies. Well Ryan Dunne is dead now (nervous laugh) so it might be weird if we try and do something he was definitely a big part of it. We’re always writing new ideas, it usually takes 3 or 4 years to come up with enough material. I’m always thinking of ideas, I travel a lot so I always just drink wine and write dumb stuff down. When we have a stack high enough to make a movie then we start filming.
MN:Sounds like the best job ever.
You get hurt, but it’s all worth it.
