The UK is next in line for the very talented Laura Jansen. Slowly taking over the world with platinum music sales, she is over here to release her new album "Elba". She has been described as 'Kate Bush meets Regina Spektor' which would be a fair comparison. Her music has that beautiful ethereal sound which Northern Europe produces very well; think of alternative pop band Team Me and their album To the Tree Tops.

The album has been produced with Matt Hales who has worked with Lianne La Havas. The album includes work from previous Mercury nominee Ed Harcourt and Tom Chaplin from Keane. Elba has a delicate melancholic sound to it similar to her Bells EP but don’t be put off by the fragility of this album - a lot of the tracks are surprising catchy with vocals not too dissimilar to Lana Del Ray. A cover of the Kings of Leon track "Use Somebody" from Bells has spent six months in the charts in the Netherlands. China love her and America thinks she is alright too so it’s only a matter of time before the big venues start calling.

Pixie like and good fun, Laura spoke to Music News about her love for Kate Bush, touring and her hopes of playing Glastonbury next year. Click below to hear the interview in full.
