The Leaf Label are specialists in occupying that eccentric musical no-mans' land between gentle whisper and quiet chaos, so this excursion into anarchistic Norwegian Death Metal comes as something of a shock…

Just kidding. No metal here, other than the softly brushed junk percussion that gives this murmur of an album the off kilter quirkiness one would expect from this great label's latest offering.

Little Things has an intrinsic maturity that belies Hukkelberg's mere 26 years. From the outset Hukkelberg flaunts her bold taste for experimentation, yet maintains a steadfast attachment to strong melodic content and an unusual accessibility throughout, sounding not dissimilar to a more richly textured Stina Nordenstam, less fickle Bjork, or more organic Blue Nile. Veering sharply, but comfortably between lo-fi electronica (‘Searching'), through jazzed up pop ('Do Not As I Do'), to exotica (‘Conversion'), Little Things is odd yet tasty…

Jazzy, unconventional, edgy, yet charming, Hukkelberg obviously has much to offer.
