So who are The Players? Well firstly there's Mick Talbot, Hammond organ virtuoso, whose CV lists the likes of Dexy's Midnight Runners, The Bureau, The Style Council, and Galliano. The drummer, Steve White, boasts James Taylor Quartet, The Style Council and currently playing for Paul Weller. And finally there's Damon Minchella, the one-time bassist with Ocean Colour Scene and currently a member of Paul Weller's band alongside Steve. Together they combine to provide a Funk band of the highest calibre fronted by Kelly Dickson.
Tonight they are holed up at 2 Too Much previously the Raymond Revue Bar (yeah that titty place) which unusually makes for the perfect arena for this musical feast. Years of experience show instantly in the instrumental grooves that surround these musicians extrodinaire. Soul, jazz, a heaped tablespoon of blues and of course some mod entwine to compose a beautiful soundtrack to a night. Kelly Dickson's powerful vocals backed by a the tightest of rock solid bands creating a party atmosphere which we can all sample when 'From The Six Corners', their second album, is released on October 3rd.
