Kingdom Come is, basically, Lenny Wolf plus guitar solos from Eric Forster these days and the change in the sound and the direction on this new album is probably something that could only be done by a solo performer.

My first impressions of the album were not all that positive – nothing I haven’t heard a thousand times before. Hard rock with power and speed as well as some swirling synths to add texture – but repeated listening brings recognition of the actual power and emotion in the music – this isn’t just good rock, there is heart and soul as well.

The first number ‘God Does Not Sing Our Song’ seems to be calling up to the heavens for help and the quavering vocal over chugging guitars is a classic backdrop for his prayer.
‘Running High Distortion’ feels like a Golden Earring number while ‘Let The Silence Talk’ is squarely in Sammy Hagar territory and the chunky ‘Skip The Cover And Feel’ has to be a great live number with a monumental stoner beat to it.
Overall it is one of the better 40 minutes I’ve spent this year and if Wolf is driving down the solo direction he seems to have the chops to do it.

Big rock and it needs a big system to do it justice.
