Get Lucky, which features Pharrell Williams is the first track of ‘Random Access Memories’, Daft Punk’s first album release since the soundtrack to Tron Legacy back in 2011 and their first studio album since 2005!
The track straight from the off, has a 70’s disco/funk sound to it, with similarities to a classic Jamiroquai song. The song is inspiring and is the perfect fit for the lead of a soundtrack for a blockbuster movie. The lyrics are rather self explanatory with references to sex and motivation obvious throughout. However, it is Daft Punk’s role (Williams provides the lyrics) which is pivotal, with the sounds that they are laying down through synth’s, it seems they are back to their best!
It’s easy to see why so much hype has been placed upon Daft Punk’s new material and that hype has definitely paid off. Get Lucky smashed the Spotify record of most plays within 24 hours. Despite sounding like a blast from the past, Daft Punk have certainly taken a giant leap forward with Get Lucky....
