The Fuzzy Lights are a band with all the credentials to make it big. Having picked up the Mojo Underground Album of the year award back in 2010 with the brilliant “Twin Feathers” the pressure has been on them to produce some top quality tunes.

Yet the band haven’t just delivered a top quality tune with “The Hour” they have served up a true gem. Glowing, anthemic and positive this song manages to be both rock n roll and mellow at the same time. It makes you want to throw your TV out a hotel window before jumping into a hot bath with a mug of cocoa. It is a complete contrast of musical styles but it works magnificently.

The song opens with an almost opera like intro while glistening guitars rattle away in the background, before lead vocalist Rachel Watkins bellows out in what sounds like a rallying cry. There are then moments of rock and roll brilliance towards the end of the song in an impressive display of musical prowess. Sounding raw and edgy, yet open and venerable this track is an exciting glimpse of what to expect from parent album “Rule of Twelfths “.
