It's all been happening in 2005 for Newcastle's pop Parksters. With a debut album, A Certain Trigger, nicely shifting units, a US tour (taking in, among others, Minneapolis, San Diego, Detroit, Chicago & New York), and an appearance on the John Peel stage at this years Glastonbury festival to boast, their current single, Going Missing, is another feather in the Maximo cap. Tom English (drums), Duncan Lloyd (guitars), Paul Smith (vocals), Archis Tiku (bass guitar) and Lukas Wooller (keyboards) are fast defining their sound and emergence. They are another quality example from the home grown crop that includes The Cribs, Bloc Party and Futureheads, though perhaps a tad on the smoother side. Going Missing is a confident vocal-led, 3 mins 43secs of indie-synth pop aided by a cool guitar hook, ultra catchy vocal delivery and notable ending “….I dream of you with someone else.†Rather than exploding on the scene in the manner of, for example, Franz Ferdinand in 2004, Maximo Park could steadily build towards a mammoth 2006. Going Missing – I doubt if they will be in the foreseeable future.
