Lemonfest 2012 was another great day packed full of enough music to suit anyone’s taste. The third year of the up and coming festival saw acts such as Hard-FI, Cosmo Jarvis and Brother & Bones light up the main stage.
The circular lay out of Newton Abbot race course meant that you could wander round all of the stages in a single loop of the festival ground. Whilst in the dead centre of the festival a mobile ramp was set up so BMX riders could fling themselves into the air and land tricks that were by most members of the audience, 'sick'.
Rinse:Out and Souloud were the tents to go wild in, filled with dance music from start to finish. Nicky Blackmarket, Frantic and Matt Vinyl are some of the energetic DJ's that had amazing sets, with extremely responsive crowds packing themselves into the tents and feeding of the crisp sound systems. Drum and bass and dub-step powered out all day whilst the tents got more and more full of life.
It was also nice to see how many people came to see acts on the appropriately named Locally Grown stage. Backbeat Soundsytem and Audio Contraband are just two of the bands that played the stage and both deserved bigger parts in the festival. This said their supportive crowds didn’t stop dancing despite the rainfall.
After Cosmo Jarvis hyped up the crowd Hard-Fi ended the night with a brilliant performance. A cover of Squeezes 'Cool for cats' was simply one of the best covers I have ever heard, and consequently the crowd left more than pleased.
Overall Lemonfest was a comfortable environment that catered for any age. The youngsters could drive buggies and learn some archery. There were drink and food stands for those in need of a cold beer and a some munch. As well as this the music was of such a good quality that the ticket price could have been way more than £20.00. The only negatives of the festival were the periods of rain and the fact that the festival was only one day long. The whole festival needed an encore!
