Dub Pistols

Taken from their fifth album, and the Dub Pistols first since 2009’s Rum & Coke this double A side single is apparently a good indication of where Worshipping the Dollar will be coming from.

Alive, which features Red Star Lion, is a dynamic bouncy number driven by a pretty traditional bass track but the judicious use of horns floating above this greatly enhances the track. Mucky Weekend which features Rodney P has an altogether more sinister, almost chilling groove about it, that’s somewhat counterpointed by the brass.

There are a number of remixes for Alive of which the Sunday Best Slow Motion Dub is the most interesting.
