Darren Hayes

It's obvious that a lot has been invested in this single from Darren Hayes: a spanking clean, chromed production from Carl Falk, a big push from his record and PA company, but most importantly into the song itself from Hayes himself.

Introing on a pulsing synth, the song builds gently on a lilting melody, into a plaintive chorus. After that, all the stops are pulled and the song goes into overdrive. The chorus, now augmented with backing vocals, strings and lush keyboards, is now huge taking the track it into lighters aloft territory. It's all a bit over the top and to these ears lessens the power of the song.

It’s nothing that hasn’t been heard before but it is sung with such passion and sincerity by Darren Hayes, that it’s easy to forgive the bombast of the latter section.
