Thursdays are the new Saturday. At least, for the packed out Purple Turtle in London, this past Thursday certainly kicked off the weekend a little early. London based pop-rockers THE MARS PATROL were the reason for the commotion in Camden this week. The band stopped home in London to play as a part of a 5-date whirlwind UK tour in which they also hit Brighton, York, Aberdeen and Glasgow’s world famous King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.

Praised as the ‘hardest working band’ in their homeland by The Scotsman newspaper, the band claims that they’re flying the flag for independent music here in the UK. Thursday’s show certainly validated this theory.

The band played a stonking 45 minute headline set to a room packed full enthusiastic fans – identifiable from the copious amounts of Mars Patrol t-shirts and even from the green glowing Martian balloons that bobbed around the crowd for the duration. The band’s fun blend of pop sensibilities mixed with rock guitars and a stunning lead vocalist recalls memories of Fleetwood Mac in their heyday, and with choruses to match, it’s no wonder this band is starting to gather that all elusive industry buzz.
