To be honest I haven't heard a Paul Simon album since 'Graceland' so I was intrigued how 20 odd years on his sound has changed. So Beautiful or What retains so of the rhythmic sounds found on the groundbreaking album, but has lyrically progressed as Simon takes stock of getting older.

The album has some absolute rhythmic beauties like 'The Afterlife' , the wonderful opener Getting Ready for Christmas Day and the thought provoking 'Questions for the Angels'.

The ethnic beats and rhythms along with Paul Simon's vocal really define the album. It certainly has similarities with Graceland but with a 21st Century twist and less African chants.

Great album from a legend
