Grouplove

Cutting to the chase, this song is terrible. Grouplove seems to be trying to channel the indie energy of Smashing Pumpkins but instead create a disaster.

One of the main problems is that the verse is just annoying. Christian Zucconi sounds like a poor man’s Billy Corgan. Elsewhere, the chorus trudges along seemingly self-aware of the tragic pointlessness of it all. The fact that Grouplove have been lauded by NME for being one of the bands to look out for in 2011 highlights the decline in rock music over the past few years. Apologies to Grouplove who are probably lovely people but this effort is just tragically lacklustre.
