Over 75,000 people flocked to Wembley stadium today for Capital FM’s Summertime Ball. Even though it was nothing like summer thousands braved the cloudy, drizzly weather to see the likes of JLS, Nicole Scherzinger, Jessie J and Ne-Yo to name a few.
The afternoon kicked off with JLS who performed all their hits and even an exclusive of their new song “she makes me wanna”. Their dancing was as usual amazing but for me their singing was sadly average.
Brit award winner Cee-Lo Green was up next and was brilliant, he had everyone singing along to all his songs, old and new. Katy B however was a bit regular and not very memorable if I’m honest.
American star Mann got the crowd going again and defiantly had the crowds buzzin!! A very energetic Mike Posner had the whole place on its feet jumping around during his short but sweet set.
Far East Movement ft Dev came on next and I think where the highlight of the show so far. Then the gorgeous Nicole Scherzinger came on looking amazing and sounding pretty good too. She performed “Don’t cha” from her Pussycat Doll days and her new single “right there”.
Unorthodox, Example came on and gave a first-class performance. He was joined on stage by Wretch 32 for their single “Unorthodox”, which disappointingly was the only song wretch 32 sung.
The highlight of the night for me (and all women I’m sure) was Enrique Iglesias. Enrique asked a girl onto the stage and after serenading her, having her grope his bum and asking her if she was 18, he kissed her full on the lips!! The look on her face was priceless.
Dance troupe Flawless performed too and were amazing as usual. Good old Jenny from the block performed an incredible set with all her best hits and her newest singles. LMFAO had everyone shuffling through their set which was just as excellent. The Wanted boys came on next, one year after their first performance at the Summertime Ball in 2010 they’ve become nationwide superstars, and showed everyone why.
Poor Jessie J had to do her set from a throne, as she ruptured the tendons in her leg after a bad fall in some killer heels. Despite the fact Jessie had to stay seated she defiantly was one of the best of the night and sung absolutely beautifully. She was joined by Devlin whilst she was singing “Price Tag” unfortunately there seemed to be some technical problems as Devlin’s microphone didn’t seem to actually work! They powered through regardless and didn’t fail to disappoint.
Ne-Yo closed the show singing all his best songs. He was a brilliant end to a brilliant night and I would highly recommend the Summertime Ball to anyone of any age because I thought it was faultless and a wicked day out!
