Whilst The Chakras might not be well known across England, they have been quietly going about their business in an impressive fashion. Currently in the process of releasing an album (mooted for the summer), the band have already performed at some of Europe’s finest festivals including Latitude & Oxegen.
The alternative Indie group have crafted a fine single in We Are The People, offering up some fresh indie-styled music into the stagnant genre. Starting with a contemporary rock sound, The Chakras combine fast paced drumming with soft piano to create something similar to the late work of The Killers, although lead vocalist Rocky Whittaker ensures the comparisons between the two bands are only slight.
It’s an interesting release from The Chakras with no real faults. The production on the song is fantastic, backing the boys decision to can former Verve producer and demote him to mixer (Which was surprising as he was the producer behind Urban Hymns & Rather Be, basically everything but the crap Verve albums). With the band now signed and their album due shortly, The Chakras can go from strength to strength with a single like this.
