Athens 5-piece Dead Confederate make a welcome return with this double A-side, both tracks of which are due to feature on their 2nd album Sugar.
A double A-side is always quite a statement and the band seem keen to display different sides of their personality. Quiet Kid is a brooding, volatile number recalling elements of Nirvana, Tame Impala and even Sunna. "You offer me nothing, you offer me nothing" scowls Hardy Morris with crashing sounds reminscent of The Cooper Temple Clause falling down around him.
Run From The Gun on the other hand is quite a change, an acoustic track commenting on the pitfalls of war. Morris' voice, though quite nasal is good, a little like Lennon impersonating Elliot Smith. Apparently History is a keen interest for the band and you feel their intelligence will serve them well with what is an ever evolving sound.
