Miss Quincy is an engaging and very personable performer and with just her and her guitarist Tyler Taves she kept an enthusiastic crowd at Camden’s Green Note fully entertained both with her music and her personality.

She kicked off with ‘Bad Luck Woman’ honking on the harmonica and sounding hearty and Bluesy and then proceeded to give us all the best numbers from her ‘Your Mama Don’t Like Me’ album – sadly without the title number. ‘Dead Horse’ was great and she put over ‘Nobody With You’ with all its variations in tempo with a lot of humour.
The whole crowd was getting behind her and she was responding with tales of recording deep in the North Canada winter and of time spent in rodeo town and backwoods. The softer numbers like ‘Girl From The Silent Movies’ and ‘Take Me’ were received with no chatter in the crowd – everyone rapt with attention.
Her guitar playing is good but her accompanist is a very talented player, laying it down simple and funky as needed and between them they put over a very tasty set of songs.

Earlier Deer Park – this time as a two piece of Mark & Lizzie – reminded me that they are a very talented pair and Lizzie’s banjo playing against Mark’s Irish brogue was delicious.
Charlotte Stirland opened the evening with a short set of self penned songs and if she can get over the obvious nervousness of being onstage she has a lot of potential with a good voice.
