If you thought 2010 was the year of Dubstep then you’re sorely mistaken. This compilation brings the best in dubstep artists combined with some not so well known DJ’s presenting some incredible remixes. Magnetic Man and Benga, both featured on CD1, shot dubstep into the charts last year and the popularity of dubstep is sure to only get bigger in 2011.

In fact, CD1 is crammed full of all the hits and popular dubstep artists that have graced the charts with their presence in the last year. Hits like ‘I need Air’ by Magnetic Man, ‘Innocence’ by Nero, ‘What you Talking About?’ by none other than Miss Dynamite herself mix perfectly with some lesser known mixes on this compilation.

Some dubstep mixes of big chart songs can be less than impressive, but there’s an incredible mix of Example ‘Kickstarts’and the 16bit Remix of Machine Gun by Noisia are just two examples to name a few. The highlight of CD1 is the amazing Wretch32. Relatively unknown, Wretch32 is gradually making a name for himself in the mainstream world and the version of Traktor Feat.L shown on this CD exceeds the expectations of many after only hearing the radio edit version. This version will shock you, corrupt you, maybe even confuse you but it certainly won’t disappoint.

CD2 is the CD on this compilation that has the majority of mixes and relatively unknown DJ’s. DJ Fresh ‘Gold dust’ is possibly one of the better known tracks on this CD, along with Gyptian ‘Hold You’ both tracks which have been regularly played in the club scene over the Summer. Digital Mystikz appear twice on this CD in the spate of two songs with two fairly decent tracks. Paloma Faith ‘smoke and mirrors’ is an unexpected but pleasant surprise. This CD is worth playing if you’re interested in up and coming dubstep artists’ check out the Skream, Skepta and Afrojack tracks for some fine examples of heavy dubstep tunes. The highlight of this CD is WTF?! & Dead Prez with the crazily catchy ‘It’s bigger than hip hop UK’, a perfectly mixed, well balanced track and by far one of the best on the whole album.
