The majority of ‘Xmas Singles’ fall into either the “Yay, let’s be mawkish/silly for Xmas” or the “Oh, lets feels sorry for the poor/homeless/alone this Xmas” camps but this is one of those rare Xmas songs that are actually good to listen to as a song as well as being completely of the season.

You won’t listen to this past the 26th of December but it brings a real smile to the heart to hear Steve Thompson (Blabbermouth) signing about the sights, smells and sensations of being in love at Xmas in London – as much in love with the city as anyone else.
He plays with delicious simplicity and throws in all the clichés without ever sounding clichéd.

If you want a song that spells Christmas for today without the fake joy or empathy this ranks alongside some of the best over the years – suddenly 2010 has a song for the season.
