Leaping onto one of the most popular stages of her hometown came Julia Sophie (aka Juju) clad in full on winter gear- woolly hat and scarf included! The Little Fish singer, with a voice resonant of Patti Smith/ Joplin launched into ‘Darling Dear’, her first UK single, with raw energy and enthusiasm. After heating up in this sweaty display, Juju cast off the scarf and hat and continued to rock around the stage like a more infinitely attractive and younger version of Angus Young!

‘Am I Crazy’ came second, a fast-paced number that got the whole crowd shouting along- questioning their mental health and attachment to long term crushes. Next, Juju announced it was time for something new and ‘Only a Game’ commenced after some technical difficulties with a tuner where Julia sweetly apologised to the audience. The new song reeked of a future hit and sent pulses of energy through the crowd.

Juju then drew the audience in with the haunting rock ballad ‘Heroin Dance’. Not being into drugs (Julia is a healthy runner and swimmer who said she can only write good lyrics completely sober) this song left me wondering what had influenced her to write this.

An energetic wave came over the band after this as Juju played the two liveliest songs without a break: 'Whiplash' and 'Let Me Die Young', proving that Juju doesn’t just have huge talent when it comes to vocals, she also used her blonde Telecaster like a second limb! Juju took a breather and told us that Nez (Greenaway- Drums) didn't usually smile so much whilst playing, he just replied that he was pleased not to be watching the X factor. The band then generously plugged Witchwood School of Rock, a local organisation that they support, helping teenagers aged 5-18 to establish bands.

The band ended on a high, with crowd participation, knocking mic stands off the stage and some insane drumming. Then after almost 3 minutes of chanting and screaming from the assembled fans the Fishes were back on stage, modestly confessing they weren’t expecting an encore! Julia said it was like they were in ‘a little fish bowl’ and not aware of the interest from fans at all. ‘Sorry State’ and ‘Bang Bang’ left their hometown stunned. The raw power and originality of Little Fish deserves to be heard by many so spread the word! Dive into the swirling energy that is Little Fish....you won’t be disappointed.
