Canadian dub-steppers Zeds Dead are about to unleash ‘Rudeboy’, a shockingly bass heavy number on Kissy Sell Out’s faultless label San City High. The label claims it is the loudest record they have ever put out and this deep rumbling tune will certainly peel the paint from the walls with its wonderfully glitchy bassline. It is actually quite a down tempo track that comes in at only two and half minutes but every second is full of brooding brutality which has been hijacked in various ways on the plethora of remixes that come with the original mix.
Matt Sayers is first up with his ghostly piano treatment that highlights the scratchy hip-hop influences of the original while adding a weird sci-fi angle to the already filthy sound. Mr Vega continues in the hip-hop vein with a stripped down mix that doubles up the distorted samples and chucks in a few synths for good measure. The expected drum ‘n’ bass re-rub comes courtesy of Union who manage to cover a few genres including a dab of trance before they settle on a monstrous jungle breakdown which is possibly louder that the original.
All the remixes of this amazing track are brilliant and Swerve & ADjected Deleted’s offering is no exception with a ramped up 4/4 remix. Audiobotz supply the mix most pleasant on the eardrum and after the terrifying bass of the previous lot its clubby house tones are a welcome respite but then a massive drop hits and we’re back to bowel shaking dubstep vibrations. ‘Rudeboy’ is all anyone wants from a dance track super, sharp and short. Its electronic menace lingering long after it has played out.
