Admittedly on first listen you rather nonchalantly dismiss Leni Ward as another electro pop artist in the mould of Ellie Goulding or Robyn, and while those are reasonable comparisons to draw, beneath the surface there is a little more going on.

Firstly Leni is the writer, producer and recording engineer behind everything she does and secondly she takes inspiration from interesting bands such as Frightened Rabbit, leading to the b-side Nothing Like You which she sings with pleasure.

The single itself is a minimal electro pop effort, travelling along at a midday radio 1 pace declaring“I want my heart back, my chest was empty and my hands were cold”, but it has an addictive quality with Leni's voice lending itself to repeat listens. With aspects of Bat for Lashes, PJ Harvey and Kate Nash, Miss Ward from Derby is well worth a further look.
