Stuffed with melody and with all the power of Enter Shikari on a heavy day it is amazing that this much sound can be made by just a duo.

The sound of the band is fresh and alive but there is a knowing side to their lyrics that set them apart from most of their contemporaries. They have the ability to play massive and monumental – the opener ‘Busy Bein’ Born’ – or to crank up the speed and throw in some vaulting sounds as on ‘USA’.

Sean Stockham is a drummer in the grand manner, hitting everything in sight with power and flexibility and Zack Lopez’ guitar sound delivers melody as well as a fuzzed up and strangled tone and their combined vocals cover all the bases between grunge and punk.

There are twelve tracks here, written over a few years, and you can hear the development of the band and some of the influences of the bands they have toured with – definitely touches of Alice In Chains and Social Distortion but wrapped up into MCR’s own sound.

A really fine debut album and definitely one that is apart from the mass of indie bands currently plying their trade, these guys have the talent and the skills to go a long way.
