‘That Day’ by the Villagers is the perfect soundtrack to crsip autumn weather – a delicious slice of uplifting, jangled pop.

Building from a simple strummed guitar and piano melody, Conor O’Brien’s voice soars into a tune that is destined to remain in your head for the rest of the day. The folky sound, reminiscent of a less world-weary Johnny Flynn, has a gleeful unpretentiousness seldom heard any more – by the time the rest of the instruments chime in, I defy you not to be smiling all over your face and nodding to the beat. You may find the abrupt ending annoying, although probably because you wish it hadn’t ended.

All in all, it is three minutes of sunshine to dispel any showers coming our way; really rather good indeed.
