It was only a matter of time. Come Dine With Me is one of Channel 4’s run away successes, and now here comes the accompanying album. Cleverly (?) set across 3 discs to simulate starters, main and desserts, the 60 tracks here are described as dinner party tracks, although there appears little to distinguish one disc from another. Disc 1 (starters) could be seen as a little mellower with Sade, Alicia Keys, Royksopp and Zero 7 (classic dinner party artists!) adding to the ambience.

Disc 2 (main course) ramps up the pace a little with Paloma Faith, James Morrison, OneRepublic, Macy Gray and Dee C Lee adding some 90’s and 00’s orientated music. George Michael also appears with ‘Cowboys & Angels’ which is one of his few singles not to chart; interesting inclusion based on success (or lack of) but it is a great track all the same. Dido also appears on Disc 2; along with Zero 7 she was the epitome of dinner party music a few years ago!!

The dessert disc 3 gets a little pacier, with Hoosiers, Zutons, Primal Scream and Gnarls Berkley contending with Jason Mraz, the Fray and Mark Ronson. Jeff Buckley closes it all off with the wonderful ‘Hallelujah’.

Eclectic is definitely a word to eb used here; interesting collection of songs, including some real gems that have seen the light of day for a while now!
