After listening to In the Summer earlier this year, I knew the Spanish electro band are set apart from the rest. Their debut album Star of Love is everything I expected and more, with catchy yet meaningful songs.
Listeners will already be familiar with a few of the songs: the trance gem I Love London; the heavier In the Summer released earlier this year with an amazing video to match; Xtatic Truth; and their newly released singe Follow. Yet these are just the beginning. Opener Solar System sounds like a cosmic jam, I do this Every Day is a heavy trance track which will bore into your head and never leave, Plage is a feel good summer anthem about going to the beach. I’ve had this LP on repeat for a while now and it doesn’t look like I’ll be turning it off any time soon.
Crystal Fighters are one of the most talented bands to arrive on our shores. Their songs are well written and highly infectious yet retain a lot of depth. This is one of my top releases of the year so far.
