We Can Never Die is the band's first release with new singer Jesse Forte, who replaced Lizzy DeVine in March, and is also the title track of their current EP.

While the prophets of doom and apostles of narrow-mindedness predicted that VOJ won’t be the same without former frontman Lizzy, the band proved them wrong! Sure, when compared to Lizzy’s raspy voice, then Jesse’s somewhat more refined vocals add a slightly slicker touch to the band’s repertoire. At the same time, his voice is perfect for stepping into different musical territories.

Once again, while die-hard Lizzy DeVine fans might cringe at the very prospect of such musical blasphemy, there are others who will no doubt embrace such possibilities, and for good reason. After all, VOJ have just signed a new deal to record and release a 'special edition' covers project in early 2011. Apart from a few surprises, listeners will be treated to VOJ remakes of artists as diverse as Bob Seger, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Bad Company, The Beatles and more. Not only does the project sound absolutely awesome, it will also filter the band’s true fans from those who can’t see beyond the realms of sleaze-rock.
In addition, Jackass’ Bam Margera is using VOJ music in his new reality TV-show Bam’s World Domination. Bam’s world domination? Sure looks like VOJ heading that direction, too.

The title track We Can Never Die (the EP also contains a long play version) sounds polished enough to have a widespread appeal, yet spits enough edge and attitude to remain true to the band’s reputation as bona-fide hard rockers / sleaze rockers / glam rockers (take your pick!). The first half of the song has its emphasis on killer rhythm (courtesy of bassist JP White and drummer Jacki Stone), with an irresistibly catchy chorus, while the second half is spiked with snarling, rough ‘round the edge guitar solos – courtesy of guitarist Nicki Kin and latest addition Anton Sevholt.

There’s irony in the title too, for while We Can Never Die is essentially a love song, it’s lyrics like “Leave the world alone, let it burn for a moment…” that could well refer to the fiery and controversial reaction when the band announced Lizzy’s departure - welcoming Jesse Forte as his replacement. Seeing how despite the change, the band continues to go from strength the strength (and touring from continent to continent) it’s an aptly titled EP for sure!

The title track was mixed by multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Chris Laney (Candlemass, Crashdiet) at the legendary Polar Studios in Stockholm (for those not familiar with VOJs history, the band originated in Sweden and later re-located to LA).
The EP is available via iTunes and like with everything on iTunes, the tracks can be purchased individually. Then again, why would you opt for it when you can purchase the whole shebang for a measly £4.95?
