The sixth release on Kissy Sell Out’s hot label San City High is a heavy electro two hander from Lincoln lads Urchins. Riding high after their much sought after remixes of tracks such as Groove Armada’s ‘Paper Romance’ and their own ‘Tickets’ EP, Urchins have nailed their big room sound on these high quality productions.
A techno edge pervades these tracks as they grow into bone shaking crescendos and the remixes take them to another level entirely. High Rankin’s mix of ‘Drag On’ is just immense and goes to dark electronic places that defy categorisation. The same can be said for His Majesty Andre’s re-jig of ‘And Then’ which lifts an already banging track to a cosmic disco masterpiece full to the brim with shiny loops and space age drops.
Urchins are definitely ones to watch in 2010 and their infectious enthusiasm for the music they make is evident in these two crackers. Under the watchful eye of Mr Kissy these boys should go far as long as they keep off the streets and carry on making tunes like these beauties.
