The Saturdays

Hmm, this is an interesting release. When their second full album was released last year, it contained three songs that are now on Headlines!; this means that only 5 of the tracks on this mini-album are actually new tracks. Strange approach, but perhaps they are hoping to mop up some people who didn't buy Wordshaker but did like Forever Is Over, Ego and One Shot.

Headlines! does also include current hit single ' Missing You' which is a big ballad number with plenty of vocoding and probably one of their best singles to date.

Elsewhere, tracks like 'Higher' and 'Died in Your Eyes' are strong enough tracks to make this mini-album a potential purchase. The latter is a well constructed power ballad with a rousing near gospel chorus..

Karma is a weaker track with little to really distinguish it from many other pop tracks. 'Puppet' helps to redeem the girls as it's quite a catchy and sassy track, even if the lyrics are a bit bizarre.

'One Shot' finishes it all off, having had a slight remix (nothing radical though!).

So 8 tracks in all; some you know already, some Saturday fans have already, but as it only around £7 it's not a bad release when taken in its own right.

The Saturday's still have more work to fill the void left by Girls Aloud (can't see any Arena tours yet) but they are still making solid pop tracks, so their time may yet come!
