The ZingZillas left their tropical island this weekend to do their first live gig in London’s Bedford Square. The band is made up of Zak, Panzee, Tang and Drum, the baby of the band. If you’re not a regular watcher of CBeebies you may also need to know that they are a gorilla, chimpanzee, orang-utan and monkey! This rocking band of primates have had thousands of kids dancing since they first found their way onto our tv screens in April. They are now household names and anyone with under fives knows that The ZingZillas are the new Tweeenies but with rhythm and cool moves!
Their first stage appearance hosted by Sara Cox went down a storm with the bopping bambinos and they were met with screams of delight when they appeared on stage .Their colourful costumes and crazy dance moves make them all the more appealing to kids. The children had had an opportunity to make didgeridoo earlier in the day and were able to play along with the band which went down well. The whole event was very interactive with all four band members sitting on the edge of the stage and shaking hands with their adoring fans.
They also were joined later by an amazing Indian dance group who taught the children a great little routine so that they could join in. This was a clever idea as it really held their attention. The ZingZillas only played two songs at a time leaving talented dancers and singers to entertain the crowd in between. Each time they returned to the stage the kids went crazeee!
This gig, I’m sure will be the first of many and with those mad monkeys winning kids hearts everywhere without doubt, they’ll be the next Big Zing!
