It was about time someone came up with a new woman anthem. Newcomer Selah offers us another tune to add to Aretha’s R.E.S.P.E.C.T., Cindy Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and, OK, Beyoncé’s Single Ladies.

The girl is only 22, but oh boy, she knows what she’s doing. And saying: “It’s a woman’s world, women made men so men come and thank you girl.” The song brings the real R&B back, complemented with a modern and catchy beat. Sadie Ama and Mz Bratt join the Brixton songstress in this radio-friendly anthem, and their vocal support give the song a whole new dimension. Each one is so different, but they perfectly blend together, in a woman’s world.

Is their a gap in the music scene for this young girl? Definately. Selah has such a special and unique voice and the lyrics in Woman’s World are more than meaningful: “I’ll be a winner ‘til my soul flies.” The Davinche produced track slowly builds up into a total killer. It’s got the soul, the hip-hop and it’s also got R&Bish pop. Yes, it’s an unusual mixture, but when the ingredients are good, the final dish is bound to be great.

Woman’s World is out August 2nd.
