With Father's Day just around the corner the obligitory CDs are starting to come out. Haynes: Dad's Guide To Rock is one of the better ones, and loving the Haynes crossover idea on the sleeve.
The 3 CDs are a step back a decade or two on the whole, but I guess that's the idea.
CD1 contains recent hit Don't Stop Believin' (Journey version not Glee!), before adding hits from favourites like The Jam, Blue Oyster Cult, ELO and Europe . There's quite a USA feel on here with the inclusion of Rick Springfield, Survivor, REO Speedwagon and Boston.
CD 2 is a stunner with Bowie, Meat Loaf, Jeff Waynes's War of the Worlds and even a bit of Adam and the Ant's (Kings of the Wild Frontier and thankfully not Prince Charming). It all ends with Lou Reed's seminal classic Perfect Day.
CD 3 is slightly (and I mean slightly) more modern with Nickelback, The Farm, Stone Roses, Teenage Fanclub, Super Furry Animals, Death in Vegas, Travis, Primal Scream and Reef all making appearances. This is countered slightly by the Byrds and Roy Orbison coming in just before Nicelback close it all down!
This is a great collection of classics, some hidden gems in here too that you don't always find on compilations.
