The Wanted are tipped to take the boy band crown from bands like JLS this year with their mixed line-up of indie boys and playboys, a cunning ruse to appeal to as many different tastes in the ‘teeny girl’ demographic as possible. There’s a bit of something for everyone. There’s the tiny shy one who looks like he’s going to cry at the slightest blowing of a breeze, there’s the one who looks like he could have been in Arctic Monkeys about five years ago and even a muscled skinhead for those who like ‘em bloated with testosterone.

They’re all here! So it’s no surprise really that the single itself is also a bit of a mixed bag. It starts with a simple synth string intro like Il Divo mixed with Basshunter, which on its own sounds like something you wouldn’t even want to subject Taliban prisoners to, but it isn’t quite that awful, not yet; it’s only when it goes all techno in its final moments do you really start to get turned off.

The boys can carry a note, but they’re really not stretching anything here at all and for a pop tune, it fails to leave itself in your head like a railroad spike, which is the only real trait a pop single should need in order to sell shed loads of copies. Even after continuous listens (which is really something I wouldn’t advise), it’ll have vanished from my consciousness like rohypnol the morning after. Shame.
