Well. I wasn’t expecting that. 'Sliding Oh My! How we Terrify’ into the disk drive without reading the press release beforehand was a naive move on my part; I had no expectations, but If I did, I’m fairly certain I wouldn’t have been expecting this. I bet your all wondering what on earth I’m on about, I sometimes wish I knew myself really, but the six track E.P took me by surprise in the best of ways.

If you're still wondering what I'm nattering about then I guess I better explain myself; Boys with X-Ray Eyes are an unearthly assault on your ears, drawing their sound from the metalcore scene as well as splashing the pages of their music with a pounding hardcore feel that loosely associates the boys with acts such as The Ghost of a Thousand, Alexisonfire, Every Time I Die and Dillinger Escape Plan.

You’ll know what I mean when you first listen to 'Hot Rod’. It’s all about in-your-face guitar riffs and exploding, bass heavy drum beats. It’s full to the brim with sharp movements and incredibly formidable growls and melodic vocals that any fan of metalcore giants Dillinger Escape Plan will instantly appreciate. There’s a lot going on, but not in the sense there’s no organisation; it’s a barrage of sounds that captivate and accumulate to something extraordinary.

Every song boasts something individually appealing, and third track 'The Weatherman’ is no exception. In fact, it probably belongs to a Glassjaw E.P somewhere back in time, if not just because it’s simply magical, but now and again the melodic vocals are almost a dead ringer for Daryl Palumbo. This is a demonstration of how diverse BWXRE’s can be, and it’s great to see they can successfully move in and out of relentlessly pounding metal riffs to something a little different track by track without losing the feeling of thunderous, edge-of-the-seat killer tunes.

The E.P ends on a similar note to how it began; powerful, stunning and completely believable. Notably, the bass riff running through the final song is excellent, but it’s the band as a whole that make it perfect. You often find that people can pinpoint something that ’makes’ a band, but the young Welsh lads simply gel as musicians so well that everything goes hand in hand beautifully.

I’m not going to say anymore, In fact, I’m not even going to give you a summary. Head to MySpace, give them a listen and purchase this E.P; now.
