Justin Bieber has sprung from nowhere following being discovered on YouTube by Scott Bauber last year. The Canadian 15 year old became the subject of a bidding war with alleged interest from Usher and Justin Timberlake; Usher was the ultimate winner.
Justin’s sound is a very commercial R n B style; think a junior Chris Brown / Ne-Yo and you’ll on the right lines. The beats are good, but you need to get over the fact that at times the vocals are pretty high, and perhaps the lyrical content doesn’t fit with a pubescent teenager!! That aside this will do great things as the teenies love him.
My Worlds is a combination of his original mini-album My World released earlier this year, and My World 2.0 which was released separately stateside. The album is a mix of sugary 'High School musical’ style ballads like 'Down To Earth’, 'Stuck in the Moment’ and 'Last Dance’ and full on electro dance tracks like 'Love Me’ where he cheekily describes himself as JB (very Jason Derulo!) – this track is in fact a semi-cover of The Cardigans 'Lovefool’ taking the chorus in its entirety!! It’s the RnB where Bieber really wants to concentrate and tracks like the singles 'One Time’ and 'Baby’ along with Usher inspired 'U Smile’ show Justin Bieber has plenty of vocal talent.
It is a very full album as it was 2 separate releases in the UK, and you can see a slight change in style as the album progresses. Even with the plethora of tracks there appears to be little fill – 'Eenie Meenie’ is perhaps one such track, even with Sean Kingston’s intervention it can’t save this somewhat cheesy number.
I have seen mention of a young Michael Jackson, which may be a bit over the top, but he does have plenty of talent – this is no manufactured pop star who has earned his position through hard work and true talent.
Not for everyone, but the teenies of this world have founds a new musical outlet now HSM is no more.
