Christmas is long gone, and before you know it Valentine’s Day is around the corner. Cue plenty of Love / Romance CDs to fill the shelves. One that may stand out a bit from the crowd of CDs containing current slushy tracks is The Power of Love, inspired by the Jennifer Rush mega hit of the 80s. And the 80s is where the inspiration falls for all 60 tracks here. This CD takes you through the good the bad and the ugly from 20+ years ago.
There are some blinders, including the X-Factor / Glee resurrected track 'Don’t Stop Believing’ from Journey, Alice Cooper (yes really) with Poison and The Scorpions epic 'Wind of Change’. As well as rock, you also get full on pop from Cutting Crew, Taylor Dayne (whatever happened to her??), Starship and Bangles (why Manic Monday??).
Rock is where most of these tracks lie though – Patti Smith, T’Pau, Rainbow and Boston all fulfill this criteria in some form of other.
It is a great collection for 80’s kids like myself, and with many tracks re-appearing – X-Factor, Glee and TV Adverts you’ll be surprised how many you know!!
