16 December 2009 (gig)
22 December 2009
XFMs Winter Wonderland was again held at the O2 Brixton Academy, in my eyes the best venue for any gig, with the perfect atmosphere and crowd size generated every time. This was XFM's way of wrapping up the year with performances form the years finest bands.
Bombay Bicycle Club were excellent, performed very well and got the crowd moving and really getting into the songs. They played a short set but was the best performance on the night especially the song 'evening/morning' which came across perfectly, I would highly recommend seeing this band.
Big Pink's music is not the greatest but the one song 'dominoes' was a big hit, and clearly what everybody there wanted to hear. Their other songs were not as well known but hopefully will be in the future.
Temper Trap's single 'sweet decomposition' was the clear crowd pleaser. This again really got the crowd going and the atmosphere was amazing everybody was singing and dancing clearly enjoying the festive spirit. It was only a small set but perfectly formed. Expect to hear more from this Australian band.
Razorlight where the final band of the night and were awesome. They really rocked the crowd with everyone around going metal for them. They played most of there classics entertaining the crowd.
Overall the event was a huge success, everyone in the arena left with smiles and it was a perfect treat for any music fan to wrap up the year, a highly recommend for anyone looking to go next year.
