The Hardest Stone To Throw is the 2nd single from Essex/London 4-piece London Blackmarket and it comes on at a ferocious pace, making up for an unfortunate break in time since their last release Checkmate. Fusing the likes of Arctic Monkeys and early Bloc Party, whilst retaining an element of experimental Sonic Youth or Nirvana and with an urgency and agitation that lifts them above their peers, this single should prove a platform to a wider fan base. Lead singer Nicholas Long snarls his way through the track falling somewhere between a frenzied Liam Gallagher and a wasted Rod Stewart, declaring 'so don't you take me for a ride, I'll never let you down'. It's a big line that matches the might of the song.

B-sides Linas Store and Last Chance Dance are similarly riotous and relentless. They are strong additions, barely stopping for breath, something which is especially evident on the latter with it's dangerously catchy chorus. Undoubtedly one for the dancefloor.

London Blackmarket are a band to get excited about. Go see 'em.
