The garage was heaving when Music-news arrived at the Garage and the atmosphere was intense. A healthy mix of young and old had gathered to get their groove on to a band that, if it had not been for the grunge blip, could have been as big as Metallica are now. Thankfully there wasn’t a taste of bitterness in the air as Living Colour gave us lucky few a treat the senses have only just come to terms with.

The set was beside itself with magic moments. Doug Wimbish climbing through the crowd whilst plucking an effects ridden bass, Will Calhoun and his mashed up drum solo and Vernon Reid’s impossible solo madness all helped raise the bar for an evening’s entertainment but it was when all the guys came together that the night truly took off.

Songs old and new made appearances, 'Behind The Sun' was a special highlight off new album 'Chair In The Doorway', 'Papa Was A Rollin Stone' leading into 'Glamour Boys' quite frankly blew the whole room away and the final, face splitting 'Elvis Is Dead' complete with Hound-dog mid section had the whole room screaming themselves stupid.

Minor quibbles would be the emphasis on the low end, so much so that sometimes Vernon’s funky riffs got lost in the mix and no 'Pride' seemed a bit bizarre. Apart from that The Relentless Garage got what it deserved, a relentless, song filled performance.

Living Colour could be the most talented band currently rocking the face off the general public. Seriously, if you haven’t had a chance to witness their genre tripping tomfoolery in person please god do it. It’s like being orally assaulted by Jenna Jameson.
