The Lancashire Hotpots – 2 shows at Glastonbury(!) , 2 number 1 comedy albums ('Never Mind The Hotpots’ and 'Pot Sounds’) and an episode of Celebrity Come Dine With Me so what could possibly be next – a Christmas album of course.
Now I hear you groaning – just like I did but,. there are some genuinely wonderful comedy moments in amongst the painfully awkward.
It is traditional to take the piss out of Cliff at Xmas and their shot – 'It’s Christmas Time’ – is a little weak but 'Happy Non Denomination Winter Festival Celebration’ is wonderful as they take the rise out of anyone trying to claim Xmas for themselves’ Gavison Christmas’ really does sum up the British Xmas day and 'Christmas Health & Safety Considerations’ rings painfully true.
This is probably the best Xmas comedy album I’ve heard this year and they manage to raise a smile without casting any desperately harsh asides – good stuff.
