Erasure's third album, 1988's The Innocents, has been re-mastered and re-released to celebrate its 21st anniversary. Including huge hits like 'A Little Respect’ and 'Chains of Love’ this was Erasure at their peak, losing some of their early synth sound for a more complex sound with additional variations musically. Brass played more of a part, and the addition of some gospel sounds paved a whole new direction for Vince Clarke and Andy Bell.

Lyrically tracks went from the deeper tracks like 'Phantom Bride’ and 'Hallowed Ground’ through to the wonderfully random 'Yahoo!’ (6 years before the internet giant was born – perhaps the founders were Erasure fans?)

It is a strong album that has stood the test of time well. Special mention also goes to one of their live favourites – their cover of the Tina Turner classic 'River Deep. Mountain High’ – still sounds fantastically camp and fun. This, along with 'When I Need You’, are additions from the original 11 tracks. A three disc CD / DVD combo is also released at the same time.
