Having finally broken the UK, after big success in their native Australia, The Veronicas have re-released their second album here.
Combining upbeat pop, with some slightly edgier moments the album is full of catchy hook, riffs and lyrics about young love and heartbreak. Musically influences / similarities seem to include Ting Tings, Miley Cyrus, Sugababes, Pussycat Dolls, etc.
The sound is very current, with plenty of electronica which also is working well for La Roux, Little Boots et al. What distinguishes the Veronicas is their use of harmonies to emphasise the tracks and make them a more unique proposition.
'Untouched' kicks it all off, and is a track we all very well having scored a huge hit here. Tracks like 'Take me On the Floor', '4ever' and 'Popular' continue this energetic style, delivering more killer tracks.
The girls can also deliver some more tender and emotional moments with tracks like 'Someone Wake Me Up' and 'In Another Life' showing their softer side.
This is a crowded market, however The Veronicas have managed to carve a small niche for themselves here.
